Liberation: The Process of Becoming More Sovereignly You

card from the earth warriors oracle deck

What is freedom, really? What do you do when your freedom is restricted? What about when limitations in the physical world prevent you from experiencing the same privileges as others?

The solution that many spiritual teachers present is to just shift your perspective, to dismantle your belief in the limitations being real and recognize it's all an illusion, but I have a different perspective to offer... what if the "illusion" is a sacred? What if rather than dismissing it, we embraced it even more fully?

Did you know that by just diving down 15 feet under water, the color red disappears from our vision? At 25 feet orange is lost. Yellow vanishes at 35 feet. Green cannot be perceived below 65 feet. While good intentioned, I see messages of mental hacking akin to sunlight shining through the surface of the ocean; the light starts to split and the color of the message is lost on those who are in the deeper darker experiences of being human. For people going through the hardest aspects of life; feeling the pain of loss, suffering from disconnection, experiencing confusion around why bad things happen to good people, what is needed most is a form of light that can reach those depths.

If you're in that place where your hopes and dreams are shattered beyond repair, where you're not only grieving the external losses but the loss of the person you were, where you have no idea how to make sense of this world anymore... you have someone who sees you, who gets it, who honors where you are, and sees the beauty in your raw emotion.

It is important to remember you are not broken. Nobody is broken. This is all divinely supported and in agreement with your Higher Self -- even when that doesn't seem possible.

You are not behind on your path... not one bit. As a matter of fact, you're being liberated and initiated into something very sacred. Your sovereignty.

It is not easy, but what is on the other side of these experiences is all that you are looking for, all that you have known is possible. You have to go through through it so that you can discover what remains is what cannot be taken or destroyed. As you shed these things that are not and never were you, what remains is the truth or who you are, initiating you back into the remembrance of the access you always have within. Just slow down. Breathe.

You are not meant to turn to the past, as it cannot support you in the way it once did. -- Alana Fairchild

The pressure, the heat, the overwhelming suffocation; it is all to alchemize you into the diamond you may not yet recognize you've become.

As you let go of that which no longer serves the desired form waiting to take shape, you'll begin to see why on a higher level, you agreed to this. The heaviest parts of life offer your soul a way back home and I promise, you will find your way back home.

Divine Destruction

If I told you "prepare to live in the wilderness alone for 14 days" you'd probably show up with a 50-pound backpack stocked with tools to help you eat, drink, sleep, and protect yourself. Now imagine how you'd feel if a flash flood came and you have to run to save your life at the expense of losing all your gear, your camp, your tools, your shelter... all of it. The reality is, we'd never choose that experience for ourselves, consciously. It's exhausting, overwhelming, and terrifying to have nothing to rely on. The only way through it is to carry on and experience who you are without all the "things". It's only in the perceived experience of losing everything that we can find the parts that have been missing for a long time. The task is to trust; trust that things are working out, will work out, and have always been working out with your highest good considered.

The last few years have been extremely challenging for me, especially because all the hardship seemed to be leading nowhere. I've explored every inch of the what ifs, of how things could have been different, of how things didn't have to be this destructive and traumatic...every inch of it. On a regular basis I felt tested beyond my ability to have faith.

This "divine force of destruction" held up, one by one, each role in my life that brought me belonging, security, and identity, asking me how I'd like to live without them. It stripped me layer by layer of everything I had a sentimental attachment to, showing me these were always temporary. During this time, my emotions regularly teeter-tautered between rage and resignation, desperation and detachment, despair and numbness.

"Bold and fierce, she cuts the head from our false identity, awakening us through divine destruction. Her darkness is that of the ultimate void into which we may drown our separate self. She is the power which dismantles our limited beliefs and the stories we create about who we are and how the world works. She arrives to lovingly demolish all that stands in the way of our liberation." - Haylee Clare, Shadows of Light

This is Kali Kapalini. The Hindu goddess of death and rebirth.

What I discovered wasn't just an attachment to an outcome, but an actual dependence on it. I was pouring so much energy into controlling the world around me that there was no space for trust in the Universe. The lack of faith that things were unfolding perfectly meant that I needed the wrongs to be corrected before I could let go, and that is why it was not in my highest good for my desired outcomes to manifest. My dependence on condition is what Divine Destruction came to liberate me from. Somewhere along the way I had shed enough to fit through the bottleneck and escape the attachments of who and what I thought I was.

Seeing How Far You've Come

It was only in losing conditions I believed I needed and surviving that I realized there are things I know are there that can never be taken away. Parts of me that truly cannot be destroyed, regardless of my fears. A spiritual freedom. True abundance. As my awareness grew, I felt an increasing sense of gratitude and pride that I'd made it through the bottleneck, the ego death, the metamorphosis, the death and rebirth of the phoenix.

You are a beingness that has evolved through becoming itself through the process of rebirth... rebirthing what is you, creates continuity between passages and lifetimes. It creates a unified blending of what you were and what you were becoming. It creates the alteration that is within you that allows you to provide for yourself an amalgamation of what you have become but in new ways for transformation. -- Anne Tucker, Channeled: Remembering Your Soul's Journey

When you can get there (something simple, yet not easy), a new space opens up that you hadn't noticed was there before. You find a part of you that is so blissed out and content, it never calls you attention to it… but it’s there. It’s the you that has complete and total trust that all is truly perfect and guided. When you can embody that, the frequency is an experience of total inner peace, need fulfillment, and expansive heart-opening.

In that moment, I started to see the how the limitations on my freedom had been there to liberate me from illusion, into a fuller experience of personal sovereignty.

Freedom, Liberation, and Sovereignty

This is how our misfortunes serve us; how our lack of freedom liberates us from the limitations we perceive ourselves to have. The divine force of destruction finds its way through our diligent effort to control our realities and shakes up our lives when we get too comfortable, as a way of maintaining the sacredness of the illusion’s offering. The veil gracefully placed over our heads is what allows us to access things we wouldn't otherwise be able to. Realizing everything is perfect, even in its most destructive state is sovereignty.

These insights have been revealing to me the beauty of impermanence, even within myself, as tomorrow I will be a different person. It’s been opening up access to immense gratitude, appreciation and joy in the now as this moment is deserving of honoring and celebrating, even if things still ache.

No, I haven't "arrived", but the journey is more illuminated than ever before.

"You do not have to regret anything that has happened. You do not have to judge yourself or another or wish that things had been different. You have not missed out. You have not messed up. You have been learning and growing. What is required from you now is a willingness to let the past fall away, because the person you once were no longer exists. You may not fully realize it yet. Like a butterfly trying to crawl on the ground like a caterpillar, you may mourn the loss of your caterpillar ways. Yet, if you take a moment to realize yourself anew, you'll realize you are not the person from two years or ten years ago. You can then open to the gifts that the Oracle of the Butterfly Kachina is bringing to you now -- wellbeing, new life, vibrancy, freedom, and happiness." -- Earth Warriors Oracle Deck, Alana Fairchild

Today is the heavenly birthday of my beloved grandma, Dorothy Rose. She was a powerful woman, a talented psychic who helped the Chicago Police Department, mother of six and grandmother to so many. Check out the tribute to her life I wrote to her life here.
